Independent Childbirth Education Classes and Doula Services in Long Beach, Lakewood and the surrounding areas of LA and Orange County
For thousands of years a woman in labor could count on having the help of her friends and female relatives. In recent history, women have lost that woman to woman support. Now science is catching up to what women know. Skilled woman to woman support in the birth process makes labors shorter, easier, healthier and more pleasant! The Society of Obsetricians and Gynecologists of Canada says "Given the clear benefits and no known risks associated with intrapartum support, every effort should be made to ensure that all labouring women receive support, not only from those close to them but also from specially trained care givers [doulas]." Internationally, the prestigious Cochrane Collaboration has issued a systematic review involving 12,791 women and concluding that All women should have support in labor.
